Idaho Falls is unusual: inside the city limits your power comes from Idaho Falls Power, the city-owned utility that has run on Snake River hydro since 1900 and serves around 28,000 customers. Step outside the city boundary — Ammon included — and you are on Rocky Mountain Power instead.
It matters at the worst moment. When the whole street goes dark, the right call is your utility, and which one depends on which side of the line you are on. When your building is dark and the neighbours are fine, the fault is on your side of the meter — that one is ours.
